त्रिपिंड श्राद्ध Tripind Shradhe
वायु पुराण आदि कई पुराणों में आया है कि किसी प्रेत ने एक वैश्य से कहा कि 'आप मेरे नाम से गयाशिर में पिंडदान कर दे, इससे हमारी प्रेत योनि से मुक्ति हो जायेगी। मेरा संपूर्ण धन आप ले लें और उसे लेकर मेरे उद्देश्य से गया श्राद्ध कर दें। इसके बदले में मैं अपनी संपत्ति का छठा अंश आपको पारिश्रमिक के रूपमें दे रहा हुँ। मैें अपना नाम गोत्र आदि भी बता रहा हूँ। प्रेत के अनुरोध पर उस वनिक्ने गया की यात्रा की और गयासिर में जाकर उस प्रेत के निमित्त पिंड प्रदान किया और उसके बाद अपने पितरों का भी पिंड दान किया। पिण्डदान के प्रभाव से वह प्रेत, प्रेत योनि से मुक्त हो गया। It is mentioned in many Puranas like Vayu Purana that a ghost said to a Vaishya that 'you should perform Pind Daan in my name in Gayashir, this will liberate me from the ghost world. You take all my wealth and perform Gaya Shraddha for me. In return, I am giving you one-sixth of my wealth as remuneration. I am also telling you my name, gotra etc.' On the request of the ghost, that Vanik travelled to Gaya and went to Gayashir and offered Pind for that ghost and after that offered Pind for his ancestors too. Due to the effect of Pind Daan, that ghost was liberated from the ghost world.
